If the following is true than it is far more likely for CSCO to buy than Phillips or SONY...........

GI and S-A Post For-Sale Signs

Rumors about the sale of cable equipment suppliers General
Instrument Corp. and Scientific-Atlanta Inc. swirled around the
industry in December. The list of potential buyers and/or investors has
been said to include Lucent Technologies, Cisco Systems, Philips,
Motorola and others. Sony has already purchased a 5-percent stake
in GI.

While news outlets have speculated that these technology giants
would make such a move to capture early digital set-top sales in
North America, this simplified assessment misses the boat. The real
assets of GI or S-A are their industry stranglehold on digital cable
headend floor space and set-top conditional access systems
.

We need to look at DIVI from this perspective to see if it can get more of this "floor space"
