Rand, I am not going to go chasing around finding stuff for you.
I have seen banners come up from time to time that permit ordering directly from the banner ad. And I have read articles on same.
If I see one come up again, I will post it here.
I don't think they are particularly effective, BTW, and of very limited usefullness. How likely do you think it is that somebody would make a snap decision to buy a product just when a banner is displayed?
I can see it in some associative-marketing opportunities. For example, placed on a page with a book review or software review - buy this now. An advertiser could target, say, C|Net news stories with certain keywords or phrases. So, an article on a new software product could have a "buy now" banner.
But this is really more a matter of content, rather than technology. In most cases, it's more desirable to link to a site, where an order-form would be pre-filled, and the rest of the information can be collected.
However, it is also possible to put some JavaScript in the ad to actually include the order form right in the ad (say, as a drop-down pane). There are all sorts of innovative things that can be done, but again, I think, of limited usefulness. I think people will feel more comfortable being linked to the site that is doing the selling, so that they can be reassured of who they are dealing with, etc.
More importantly, though, than my finding places where other people are using this - how about you finding a place where ZULU is using it? |
