Did anyone notice that Amazon's average price for DVD's has gone from the 12-16 dollar range to the $17.49-$20.99 range. I think that the company is seeing activity surge and is trying to widen margins by reducing discounting. I first noticed this happen on or around 12/15-12/20, just pre-Christmas. It looks like that may be the reason.

In addition, the New York Times had a great story on Amazon on 1/8/99, check it out. It essentially says that Amazon in opening the additional distribution center is trying to capture the margin of both the distributor and the seller. The move seemed almost inevitable after the Ingram deal with Barnes and Noble was announced.

Good Luck.
