fred, i was speaking specifically of q4 96. intel is expected to beat that number by a few pennies this q. so, i guess i didn't give them credit for the 2-4% growth. is that what wall sweet saw in 1996? ;-)
anyway, margins are increasing depending on when you pick you start point. margins in 1996 were higher than now, correct? maybe they will be better than last q, however, voila, xmas showed up this year! imagine that ;-)
intel's outlook now isn't much different than it was back in 1996, imho. remember, the outlook back then was pretty good, too - even though it was wrong.
we'll just have to let this lay as the future will decide where things go and we just have to be patient and watch it as it unfolds.
