I came across this exchange which I thought was kind of interesting:

Steve, Howard, Dianna... Someone pick up the phone.  Hilton is calling and they need some help manufacturing machines.   I guess that refurbishment offer was the final straw.  Casinos refuse to give that last drop of blood as outlined here in my column on the IGT/Anchor offer to replace your non-productive machine with one that swallows 50% of your win per day.

A. Goldberg, president of Park Place Entertainment, owner of Hilton, has hired a crew of slot machine designers to put together some Wide Area Progressives and Recurring Revenue Slots.  They intend to submit their designs to equipment makers "such as Alliance, Casino Data Systems or Silicon Gaming."  No acquisitions are planned and the games will be offered out for bid to companies capable of making them.

Park Place has 18 domestic casinos and more than 30,000 slots.  It appears to me that we are entering a stage where large casinos will negotiate directly with games makers for custom products and the company best able to design and build games will prosper.  Other casinos may form groups and acquire games makers to supply themselves and other casinos.  We may also see Anchor consider grabbing up a maker with production capability and a backlog of games in their pipeline.   I did the math on Anchor grabbing CDS and was left with the feeling they would recover their cost in two years.

Bottom Line:
This is an implicit admission that the state-of-the-art slot machine is truly the star in casinos.  Those companies that are truly able to design and produce these games will increasingly be in play as others realize their great value.  Rest assured that other casinos are looking at long range tie-ins with smaller, independent slot makers that can make design games such as Monopoly and/or Bingo.

I am not even sure that other companies with national brands and increasing difficulty finding places to advertise won't enter tie-ins to have company-designed games placed in casinos with games that are custom made for them.    Might be time to revise your portfolio a bit, but please remember these are high risk investments and personal research and even professional help is recommended.
