Sorry on the late response, but I was overseas without internet access.

The Hexcel news is interesting. They are by far the largest US carbon fiber manufacturer and the world's largest consumer of carbon fiber for their value added products (prepreg, carbon honeycomb and structures). My guess is that they will consume all of their additional capacity internally.

All of these additions do not bode well for ZOLT. Aldila has an internal market for fiber (like Hexcel) and the Japanese (Toho and Toray) have the market presence today. IMO ZOLT must combine with someone bigger (either Monsanto or ex-Cytec or one of the carbon guys like Hexcel, Amoco, Toho, Toray) or they will be left behind.

However, this stock will not trade on fundamentals until the institutions bail out. Until then, the hype and BS will cloud the real glut of carbon fiber coming in 1998.

Flyguy.
