Monty, its possible for it to work for me and not for you .... it depends on the route the respective connection made. If for instance my initial connection hit the broken router or switch as its first or second point before moving on, then after initiating a different route into their system by getting a new error message, I reset my pathway and missed that relay next time around. If I hit the broken router close to the final destination, there's less chance of success. Some of this equipment is designed to automatically take you through exactly the same route as previously taken (until end of day when everything is reset). I should also ask if you turned off your computer/cleared its cache ... otherwise there's a good chance you would be directed down the same path (I don't fully understand this).

For example, I have two PC's. The older one I bookmarked the London Times a couple of years ago. In the last 6 months I have bookmarked the same URL on the new one. This hardly ever works, and I usually end up connecting through a site that lists international publications. The URL's the same on both machines.... but the path to the destination seems already defined and related to the time I made the bookmark.
Needless to say, the link on my old PC works like a dream and gets me through pronto.

Anyway ... I couldn't get the guy at Schwab to understand either that it was a switch or router that was broken and not just volume(..... so I guess I'll just concentrate on the subject of trading !!

Regards

Stephen
