FWIW ... i do have ADSL for few monts now , but for you who can't get it right know ... don't be to upset about it ... yes it is a hell of faster than 56k modem BUT !!! here in vancouver the charge for ADSL is $64.05 -- in this is included a gateway/sympatico plus gst/pst total $ 74.05 ... the gateway connection is provided by BC tel , BUT BCtel can't sell internet directly you have to choice one of 5 or 6 ISP providers which they have contract with -- that cost you $15.00 and it is part of that $64.00 .. no way around it speed .. ??? my fastest download was 80k/sec at average over 8mb program , but if start talking about connection to online broker it becomes a completly different game ... you who knows e*trade can get a picture from this ... i go to the order page put in my order and click for confirmation ( for trading password page ) AND it can take anything between 20 sec to 2 minutes just to get to the page to input my trading password ... i have a second account with Investors Edge - CIBC and the difference is nonexisting ... same slow and slower ... if it goes just a bit slower it will start crawling bacward ........ bottom line .. ADSL is great if you download from a site which has a proper hardware and there is not a heavy trafic at their end ... other way your ADSL changes to 14.4 modem and you can go make a coffee between reloading pages ... problem is ... 99% of financial sites thinks that a 386 - 25 Mgz is a scream of computer technolgi and that is what they are equipped with ... i guess .. 8-)) good luck and better speed to all of you .... tlb
