In last years Business Week WDC was also concidered to be a top candidate a takeover. However, I think that the recent run up in the price may be due to strong earnings. The company has recently consolidated and refocused to concentrate more on their hard-disk drives. WDC has a lot of cash (with 0 debt !!!!) which is the main reason why it would be considered a takeover prospect. In any case whatever the reason I consider WDC to be a great company and a great buy. (well at least it has been a great buy for me)
