Ed, The cardiologists of today save many people who never would've had a chance even ten years ago. My father (and business partner) had a quintuple bi-pass a few months ago and is now doing well. The Doctor who performed the surgery has performed over 10,000 similar surgeries. Today a read an article in last week's IBD which told of a Harry Dinsmore, who removed a live 60 mm munition (bomb) from a South Vietnamese soldier's chest in 1966. Chances of that bomb going off during the operation were probably 10-1. He had to write all of his family farewell letters before surgery. Through God's will, the operation was successful.
