Brian - I don't deny that it would be nice if Dr. J were as eloquent as Scott McNeally (but Bill Gates??!!!!), but given that it isn't so what do you suggest. That's the problem. Certainly I wouldn't want to take the risk that Apple did when they hired Pepsi Co. CEO.

As for the recent performance of MSFT and ORCL, you must be kidding if you think that is because Gates and Ellison have been talking it up. They are the industry leaders in their respective areas and the market happens to be in love with industry leaders right now. (Do you know the name of Cisco's CEO, and have you ever seen him or her speak? I haven't, and yet the stock is still doing very well because their revenues per share continue to climb dramatically and they are number one in their market.)

Clark

PS Taichi - As for your question about whether it is revenues or earnings which drive stock price, I've seen several studies indicating that it is, surprisingly, revenues that correlate best to stock price. Of course, earnings, cash flow and other things are still important.
