What's your point, Tokyo Mex? To watch out for Maria B. when she breathlessly shows up just before opening Monday morning to talk about the newest events on the Street? Are we trying not to be victims of hype, or believing other people will be so we might as well take advantage of them?
You know as well as I do that people will show up on this thread then for the first time and think they are getting a "bargain" still on DBCC. Well, it's no longer a bargain, though it will probably go higher as MKTW IPO moment approaches. Of course, you and I trade full-time, can see the bids/sells lining up, and pick entry/exit points several times this week for daytrades. (You don't mean to suggest that you're going to hold throughout the week no matter what, do you?) Most people work at other jobs full-time and won't be able to see the activity. If they choose to follow the hype this week for the first time and place one of those cheap, but nutty market orders on this issue, they're going to get a lot of excitement, but not all of it will be good.
Lots of people in MALL who came in late to the game are still very much underwater with their investment. 'Fess up -- didn't you make money several times on MALL by watching the tape and getting in and out? That's not the typical way most people invest. But then, you really know what all experienced investors know: "nothing grows to the sky " -- AMZN, included, and there will be one heck of a day of reckoning on that stock one of these days.
