I'm not sure I agree they need to move away from the Internet model anytime soon. Although the valuation of AMZN is irrational (any stock that nearly doubles just because it splits is irrational), I do agree they have huge revenue upside potential by being people's top-of-mind choice for on-line purchases.

I'm not sure what the AMZN finance people think of their stock price. That they don't use their stock for currency tells you just how overpriced it is. It also is probably getting difficult for them to recruit new talent. You can give someone thousands of stock options, but they will likely never have any value. The other thing to keep in mind is that this company is an entrepreneurial pursuit hatched by one man's vision. Although that man is now a billionaire on paper, he is still actively involved in the business. I think this reflects someone who passionately believes in what they are doing, and who may be as or more interested in his idea than in making as much money for himself as possible. Otherwise, why not cash in his shares and hit the road?
