Michael: I vote for #3. As El mentioned, Q1 announcement is usually made the 3rd week of January. Having worked for a few companies where I was heavily involved with preparing financial statements, I do not believe that the one week delay has anything to do with "closing the books." That, and the indication that "something" is going on with Alta Vista lead me to the conclusion that there will be some kind of major "news" either prior to or concurrent with the earnings announcement.
