Actually, I fear it is much more serious than a semantic quibble. It is the inability to perceive a dialectic between the individual and the social group. It is the reification of the individual to the extent that even the existence of the other pole of the dialectic (the group, society, community,etc.) is wholly denied.

It is a failure of the mind and the rational thinking processes, and should be taken as a warning of the polarization and extremes to which the human mind is subject.
