bh6/300a details (reply to d. a.)

-Dan and I have used the fan/heatsink combos on boxed 300a celerons with complete sucess. TC may not carry these though. Since you get this combo, a 3 year warranty, and less hassles (no need to mount the HS/fan if it's already on), this is the preferred way to go as long as you aren't OC'ing above 450 (and IMHO, you should avoid this for a business machine, though the very knowledgable Dan S. in this thread has done so with no problems.)

-I have had no problems using standard SDRAMs (not PC-100) provided that they were high-grade and at least 10 ns. Sean, aonther thread expert, has chastized me over this, but I haven't yet mended my ways. :) Comp-USA has a great sale this week on such pieces: $149 for the 128 meg stick, along with a 10-day return policy.

-Provided your MB settings are correct and you have at least boxed-level cooling , your 300a will not start smoking. If you have problems, they'll show up as a less than stable system. If you observe crashes at 450, take it down to 300 (by moving the bus speed back from 100 to its deafult 66) and see if they still occour.

Hope this helps.
