Yes, that was my understanding, tho I recall one alternative to a second e-net card, albeit a less secure one. In any event, I had myself ready for a day of testing, tinkering, etc. and was shocked when it proved unneeded. Of course, US West's official line is that they don't support this...

Would be interested in what you use, Sean, since I do want to move to cable modems eventually. Significantly cheaper, somewhat faster, and it leaves me less dependant on my phone line. I figure if the cable modem went out, I could always use a good old 56k dialup.
