Jay, sorry to take this out of turn. After reviewing your questions in your upstream post, and the subsequent replies here, most of your questions were addressed in opinions either by myself or others. You made some interesting points, however.

> How will ATHM address QoS issues (the forthcoming QoS "balloon payment")?<

I like that one, because it foretells some shifts that will need to take place in both client and server components, and some routing and transport elements in the architecture. The cost-benefit-pain thresholds are not entirely clear to me at this time.

For those who may not be versed in this term, the QoS Balloon Payment refers to the incremental revenues ISPs will derive when they start providing guaranteed levels of service for voice and other real time applications that demand it.

Can ATHM introduce such levels of r-t service without affecting its pricing dramatically in the future? How much elasticity do they have built in? Don't know.

The natural dynamics of relationships question you raised is the one that I find most interesting, and gives me the greatest cause for musing.

Frank C.
