Restricted stock has nothing to do with free trading stock. One does not replace the other. The way you get your restricted stock freed up to sell is to go to a broker and do the paperwork. You MUST fill out the SEC paperwork and go through all that in order to sell it. There are certain ways around it, but once again it gets a bit complicated and I do not want to go into it here,,,,
