Institutional Investors as of Sept 30th: This is the last information available to me, and comes from StockSmart. That is also where I obtained the information that Bert Roberts bought an additional 10,000 shares on 12/29 and 12/30 making for a total holding of 30,000 shares.

31 Institutions hold 8.18% of the outstanding shares as of September 30,1998. Of these, 4 established new positions while 2 liquidated their holdings. Overall, Institutions increased their holdings by 3.41% for the period. Institutional Investors increased holdings for this period despite the fact that all the Small Cap Index funds that were holding VLNC had to sell their shares when it was VLNC was de-listed on the index.

The top five institutions as of September 30th were:

Dimensional Fund Advisors Inc with 942,800 shares
Barclay Global Investors, N.A. with 350,228 shares
The Vanguard Group with 115,600 shares
Starbuck Tisdale & Associates with 108,800 shares
State Street Bank & Tr. Co. Boston with 65,412 shares

As soon as more up to date information is available I will post it. One should note that these are not flaky institutions and with the exception the Dimensional Fund, which sold an insignificant 4,700 shares, all have increased their holdings significantly for the period.
