Giraffe,

Iraq already has the world's second largest oil reserves. Hussein had a myriad of reasons for attacking Kuwait, but he apparently found believability by claiming that he was merely "reclaiming" a errant province.

Based upon your responses and comments, apparently you believe(d) him. That's alright with me if you choose to do so as you certainly have the right to believe or not believe any thing you like.

But now I have to wonder whether you will also justify a forcible "reclamation" of Taiwan by China next simply because the Octagenarian leadership in Beijing follows a similar argument as Hussein.

Too bad that the people in both of those countries would disagree with you and find a trifle disturbing the fact that others sharing your opinion determine their destinies from thousands of miles away.

Seems to me that we all should just be able to get along. Maybe if we all just got together and sang songs of peace and communal love we could convert all those bad, nasty people into charming reflections of universal love and sharing.

Btw, I do believe that by torching the Kuwaiti oilfields and poring MILLIONS of gallons of oil into the Persian Gulf he basically sought to disrupt something, if not the flow of oil. What I really believe is that he wanted to control Kuwait's wealth and basically rob them of their resources and financial reserves (some $100 billion).

Regards,

Ron
