RE:"1. The 400 MHz K6-2 doesn't appear to be selling too well.

2. The 450 MHz K6-2 is simply an overclocked/overvoltage 400
MHz part that will dissipate TOO MUCH HEAT.

3. The 100 MHz L2 cache will limit any performance gains.

AMD will sell these for <$200 when announced."...

1. Do you have some sales numbers to support your statement?
Don't try to use the price on pricewatch.

2. And the P-II-450 is just an overclocked Celeron 300 with 512k L2 cache? So?

3. You just don't get it. Megahertz sells (TM-Jim McMannis)
Not just Intels megahertz...
I watched a woman buy a computer today. She looked at the price range. Then she compared MEGAHERTZ 333 vs 350, the amount of RAM and the size of the HD. She bought an IBM Aptiva K6-2-350 system.
Most all consumers are CPU illiterate. They just juggle, price, MEGAHERTZ and to a lesser extent amt. or RAM and HD...
A K6-2-450 will sell well...because it runs at FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY
MEGACYCLES/SEC.
