At this point, I do have limited experience ordering online. So I
can pass along that it takes a long time on hold to reach TC at the 800#-giving plenty of time to review choices.

Does TC have online ordering or do you have to talk to someone?

I also have limited experience ordering online. I have ordered twice from Amazon and once from Woodcraft and some software from Safe Haven? All four experiences were positive. I was able to do the entire process without having to talk to anyone.

With Woodcraft I first tried calling on the weekend. The recording said to call back during normal business hours..not that easy for me to do. On a hunch I checked the web and sure enough was able to place the order.

Amazon shipped my first book out quickly. The second try resulted in a 2 week wait. I sent an email inquiry and they responded politely and dropped the shipping charges.

I just ordered online today for the fifth time I bought the ABIT bundle at Mushkin. I did not have to talk to anyone...just filled in my name and charge card info..and that was it.

Naturally there is always a risk. You may get defective merchandise and have to return it.

The benefit is it is easier to get what you want without doing a lot of driving. It is much easier to price shop. One downside is you may have to be home to receive the merchandise or sign some kind of a waiver.

I wanted the ABIT BH6 and the Celeron 300A. Even Fry's our local high tech store *for professionals* does not sell the ABIT boards. In addition they are firm believers in long lines IMO. I found it much easier to order online at my own convenience.

I did not order blindly from Mushkin. The outfit has been reported on this thread by posters that I respect. The same for Minotaur and a couple of others. TC computers has only recently been mentioned and we have had very little input about their service. So far we know one may have to wait awhile on the phone to talk to them in person.

IMO it is best to do your research before placing an order. Don't rely on a salesman. Once you have decided on what you want and find a retailer with a good reputation the buying part is easy.
