Cayman Systems Releases ADSL3220 Router With Alcatel's DynaMiTe ADSL Chipset

BRUSSELS, Belgium and STONEHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 1999--Cayman Systems is now shipping its ADSL3220 Ethernet to Internet router, utilizing the Alcatel DynaMiTe(TM) ADSL chipset. The ADSL3220 offers a "Zero-Configuration(TM)" fast Internet access solution for SOHO users. The ADSL3220 allows LAN-wide Internet access over a single ADSL line at rates of up to 8 Megabits per second.

G.lite or full-rate

The ADSL3220 also supports G.lite and can be shipped as a full-rate or lite solution according to customer preference. This flexibility is achieved through the unique software programmability of the Alcatel DynaMiTe ADSL chipset.

Cayman is using the third generation MTK-20131 DynaMiTe chipset in their ADSL Router. The ADSL3220 can also be used for remote LAN connection, Ethernet to Ethernet, over ADSL, offering a cost effective high-speed link between remote locations.

"Cayman's router for remote LAN-wide Internet access is on the market now. The speed with which we have brought ADSL functionality to our router range has been made possible by the complete solution provided by Alcatel," said Heidi Clark, President and CEO of Cayman Systems." The complete 'packaged-approach' taken by Alcatel and their superb technical support has shortened our time-to-market substantially."

"Cayman has been an innovator in the SOHO access market for some time now and it is a pleasure to work with a company so committed to their market," said Robert Bury, Broadband Marketing Manager at Alcatel Microelectronics." Our technology has allowed Cayman to build standards-compatible, cost-effective products and helped ensure their success in this emerging market."
