<<<<OpenROUTE Networks, Inc. and PSINet Inc. Expand Relationship to Include HighSpeed DS-3 Services

WESTBORO, Mass., and HERNDON Va., Dec. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- OpenROUTE Networks, Inc., (Nasdaq: OPEN), a leader in Internet connection technologies, and PSINet Inc., (Nasdaq: PSIX), the first and largest independent commercial Internet Service Provider (ISP), today announced that they have expanded their relationship to include a non-exclusive agreement for the provision of OpenROUTE's GTAM/HSSI DS-3 routers. The GTAM/HSSI DS-3 routers will be used for high-speed (up to 45 Megabits per second -- Mbps) Internet services including PSINet IntraNet. Under an existing agreement, OpenROUTE already supplies PSINet with its GT60 and GT62 secure Internet routers for PSINet's RouteWaller service. Routers are standard Internet connection technologies that transmit Internet data packets from customer location(s) to the closest ISP access point of presence (POP).

Bryan R. Holley, OpenROUTE Networks President and CEO stated, "PSINet has long been a significant partner for OpenROUTE. Our relationship goes beyond the traditional buy/sell model. They have been and continue to provide significant input to our future product development and marketing strategies. We are extremely pleased to be growing the relationship."

Charlie Cary, vice president, product development and management, PSINet Inc. said, "Our customers' businesses continue to rely more on the Internet. Therefore, they demand the highest quality and reliability for their Internet services. OpenROUTE and PSINet are working together to develop and certify connectivity equipment that exceeds these high standards."

In addition, PSINet announced that it has certified and approved OpenROUTE's flagship GTX1000 modular router for a number of corporate connectivity services. The GTX1000 routers are scheduled to begin rollout in the first quarter of 1999. (article continues)>>>>
