For example, in Japan, ISDN is hot! The reason for this is because laying cable is just WAY TOO EXPENSIVE!


I am concerned what happens in the USA, because this in my opinion will be the country with the largest take rate.

"I hear so much about how expensive it is for cable companies to wire neighborhoods, but don't forget that laying cable is economically justified for the video business alone. We, in the cable modem industry are riding on the back of upgrades and cable modernization justified by digital video delivery. This work would be economically justified even without data and telephony," Gee said.

What ultimately may decide the winner in this battle is consumer demand.
