George Washington a Near Isolationist

Even George was enough of an engineer (and surveyor) to understand that ships sail much faster today, and planes fly infinitely faster than in his time. The dream of America sitting out the wars of the world was destroyed by Napoleon and British reaction to him. George had barely begun mouldering in his grave before we were fighting on the shores of Tripoli, off the coasts of Chile and Brazil, buying the midwest from France, invading Canada, and all our other aggressive, expansionist, and protective moves of the 19th century. In George's time, scarcely anyone had heard of us. Now everyone in the world shakes in terror and hatred of us, or shivers under the protection of our power. We can rule, be destroyed, or build a world in which all peoples can live and trade together in peace and safety. I know of no other choice.
