Michael,

Basically Apple was deceiding which operating system to merge with. BEE a new Operating system developed by Degrasse who is a former Apple executive or NEXT developed by Jobs. For whatever reason, Jobs won out allegedly because it is a "stable & mature" operating system. NEXT in fact is optimized for INTEL based PC's.

There has been a lot of noise in the press. Will the new NEXT\Copeland operating system be fully backwards compatible with Apple's System 7 OS. Mossberg who writes the technology column for the WSJ and who is a fan of Apple\MAC said last week that he would not recommend people waiting around to see if there will be backwards compatability and that the issue is probably an open one going into 1998.

Clearly, If future Apple's sold in 1998 or after are powered by INTEL chips then we are looking at another 60 cents per year for INTEL earnings which can boost the stock about $15. We'll just have to wait and see what happens over the next six months or so.

My guess is that INTEL will be inside those new Apple's.

IMHO
