Richard: Mark Steward Young of Steward Analytics uses the Coppock indicator in his mutual fund timing work. It talked to him on the phone about a year ago. He has studied Coppock extensively. About the MACD, as I said, I'm experimenting with a daily optimization of MACD. Hopefully it will work somewhat like Advanced GET's continuously evolving wave counts. I know, its a stretch. (g) But, when you're a paper trader, you can experiment like a big dog. (g)
Something that might be interesting to you, though, is that when I tried to find a single optimized set of parameters, the spreads between high/low were too great to average. But, what was evident is that the 1st MA was ALWAYS higher than the 2nd, and the 2nd was ALWAYS higher than the 3rd. This was surprising to me considering that all of the MACD suggested parameters I've seen have been completely different.
