I don't want you think you're alone on the board so here are some of my thoughts. I bought this baby originally at 3 1/4 (June of 97), some more at 3, some more at 2 1/2, more at 1 9/16, and yet more at 3/8. Do you discern a pattern here? I thought I did. The reason I kept doing it was that it seemed management was making changes, improving the shopping experience at their stores and in general paying attention to business. The only problem was a series of bad earnings reports, lowered sales, and as a result, a falling share price.
But I can't point to any one thing that management did to bring this on. Like I said they seemed to be paying attention to business. I shopped at stores from Eatontown, New Jersey to Bangor, Maine and always found the employees, pleasant and the stores, well stocked. If this company does turn around it will be due in part to changes made by Witkin.
Anyway, it seems that Citibank has some faith in the company, sans Witkin. We will see what happens with this new management. My break-even point is about 1 1/2 and I don't know if I will sell when it reaches that point but I will be tempted.
