ZP, I use a system that installs a plastic housing into an external drive bay, which has a connector on the back side that the IDE and power cables plugs into. It is stationary once installed, and never moves or is jostled. The hard drive is placed in a caddy, where there is just enough room there to connect the HD to short IDE and power cables attached to the back of the caddy, which slides into their counterparts in the housing already installed into the drive bay. The HD is actually wedged into this caddy, so there is virtually no room for it to move or slide around. Thus, the actual HD connectors take virtually NO beating. The only ones that actually get nudged each time are the ones contained in the plastic frame and caddy. In fact, the caddy has a lock and key that you can engage so it doesn't get pulled out or jostled in error. It's a great system, and the main unit costs about $20.00, the caddies less than $15.00. I've been using them for a few years now, with no problems. Have yet to hear of any problems with scores of people I have gotten to use them.

I forget the name of them, as they are generic in nature, but I'll look at the boxes tomorrow and let you know. I get them wholesale out of Georgia I believe, but I'm sure they are more widely available.
