The thing you want to remember is who owned this stock. All of the largest momentum funds ( PBHG, 20th, Duncan Hurst etc ) They do not care what they pay for a stock as long as the growth rates and earnings revisions etc. continue to improve - But when they sense a change they sell it all - down to the last share. ( and not over time - but rather the next day ) They will destroy a stock running for the sidelines but this creates a great buying opportunity.

( take a look at VANS - a great story - the company has shown 8 straight consecutive qtrs of beating the street - their business continues to improve - All of those same momentum funds owned it but when one started to sell after driving the price up they all ran for the hills by dumping the stock - If you look at the chart it looks like something dramatic happened - All the company did is beat the street again reporting 0.18 vs street expectation of 0.16 - Goes to show you what happens when these day trading wana be portfolio mgrs try to exit a stock ) These funds don't invest they speculate!!!!
