No, actually I can't even remember what an umlaut looks like. If it's available it's in "character maps", which is an optional part of Windows, meaning if you don't see it in Start/Programs/Accessories, you have to go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Windows Setup and add it from the Windows CD. Once you have character maps open, click on a character, choose select, choose copy, and then you are ready to paste it where you want it.
