Steve:

Please review a list of all the major patents that Edison held for his inventions. You will see that many contributed to the underlying foundation of the technology of the 20th Century. Perhaps only the overlooked Nicola Tesla did as much to contribute to the lifestyle we take for granted today.

"Not denying the importance of individuals - I have always been a bit of an individualist myself, and have often been accused of being excessively so - but I disapprove of polar positions, and consider them generally to be the work of inferior minds. The inferior mind sees right and wrong, good and bad. The superior sees dynamic balance, and shifts to accommodate it."

There exists a moral right and a moral wrong in the universe. Existence and intelligence demand it. From a philosophy morality is defined; from morality springs ethics and values. One of the real problems I perceive in American society is that some have a mish-mash of conflicting philosophies, some have absolutely no philosophy, and others have a theological-mystic "philosophy" that contains irrational precepts, dogmatic pronouncements with no real ontological basis, and those of course are the so-called major religions of the world.
