So what if they were slower at making USB devices? If you have serial and ADB then they can be slow....

...If Apple made its money by growing a peripheral market for other companies then your argument would make sense. But since they make money selling computers that people want to buy, it doesn't. The bottom line is this is Steve Jobs being Steve Jobs. The guy just cannot stand it if he's not pushing the envelope, and he gets his kicks from having things happen HIS WAY. If it lowers the cost of the machine to remove serial and SCSI(which it does) then that is just a collateral benefit to him.


Actually, if I'm not mistaken, i'd read somewhere that the move to USB was spurred partly because it's a standard that has also been adopted by the PC makers (so there theoretically will be an abundance of peripherals at a reasonable price).
