Today's IBD ....

CPQ makes the front page -

10. Compaq Now E-Retailer With Shopping.com Buy
Date: 1/12/99

The world's No. 2 PC maker is paying $220 million for the online store. Compaq's first foray into Internet retailing came on yet another strong day for Internet stocks. Shopping.com sells more than 2 million products and services in 63 retail categories. Compaq plans to link the site with its AltaVista site. Compaq shares jumped 3 to 48 3/8.

There's an article titled "Individual Stocks Confirm Bullish Market Averages" on A11 in which CPQ is mentioned as a pick of John Wylie of WMS Partners. He says that CPQ has made a number of changes to improve margins and adapt to the direct sales model developed by rival DELL. IBD mentions that CPQ made a new high yesterday and suggests that some investors might want to wait for a new base before hopping in.

RS now up to 94.
