Yes, indeed Dave...It reflects our societies basic disrespect for life/nature...there are serious concerns regarding resource availability/access... reasons for the affluent to prefer the dis-arming of the other 80%. Your point is crystal clear...I don't think these conflicting intentions can coexist in a society.
My earliest memories of Prime-Time Viet Nam and TV dinners comes to mind...I remember watching the war...body bags, body count, combat, the choppers, etc. It was just part of the news...we were desensitized early in life...maybe it keeps the mass psyche in a perpetual state of fight or flight...this works, along with Starbucks<g> to keep the "bigwheel" turning...wow, remember "Bigwheels"?!<g> Capitalism...the Big Wheel...now its going Global!
I digress.
I think the abuse of firearms is a national, cultural embarrassment.
Isn't it ironic....

ps...more irony, No, I'm not pro-socialism and No, I do not see an aborted fetus as life, disrespected. It seems more respectful of the quality of life to choose against bringing an undesired being into the world...this presumes that "a Woman" has the autonomous control of Her biological material...and as long as there's an umbilical cord, the potential being is essentially that Woman's biological material...nervous system or no nervous system...thanks. |
