From pictures I've seen of the ENIAC, it's as big as a small house, and all vacuum tubes. Given the MTBF of those things, and the thousands I would guess were in the ENIAC, it's amazing it stayed up long enough to add one plus one. Not too much retry or other RAS built in either. But, it was a start.
