SAN DIEGO -- Qualcomm Inc. (QCOM) and Italian concern Telital S.r.l.
signed a multimillion-dollar royalty bearing handset license agreement and a
subcontract.

In a press release, the companies said the license agreement enables Telital to
use Qualcomm's Code Division Multiple Access technology to design, develop,
manufacture and sell portable and fixed handsets for use within the Globalstar
satellite communications system.

The companies have also signed a multimillion-dollar development subcontract
for Telital to design and manufacture pre-production Globalstar/GSM
dual-mode handsets. These Globalstar handsets will utilize Qualcomm's CDMA
air interface while supporting Global System for Mobile Communications
features over the Globalstar satellite constellation, the companies said.

Telital, Trieste, Italy, is a privately held telecommunications company.
Qualcomm Inc., San Diego, develops, manufactures, markets, licenses and
operates communications systems and products based on its digital wireless
technologies.
