I also used to use Borland products. From college, I have been a proponent of Borland compilers. However, in recent years I reluctantly moved to Microsoft and MFC. Now there is no way I would ever move back. Microsoft has far superior development environment and tools, and I am no MS fan. I think that Borland got so caught up in trying to own the data base market that they neglected thier core business. Now, they are desperately trying to restablish their position as a development tools company. I doubt they will ever regain the C++ environment, although they might. Almost all major PC C++ development is now MFC. However, they still have some good technology, and I don't expect them to perish. Let's see what they can do with Java and the new Delphi tools.

A couple of years ago, I bought some Borland stock near 7, and sold at 11 (the only bad part was a week later the stock went to 15). I am currently considering getting into Borland again, as it appears the worst is behind them, and the stock seems to be fairly stable in the 5-6 range, and good news could easily cause it to jump a few points.
I am not an expert, but if you have serious doubts that Borland will recover, you would probably want to get out and take your loss. However, if you are confident that the stock will recover you might want to consider increasing your position. I am not yet sure if I consider Borland worth the risk, but I can't see them going completely belly up (if nothing else, some company would buy them for their technology). I would expect some sort of decent turn-around. THis could be an opportunity to make a substantial return, or ... well you know the other side of that one.
