I don't think a name change forces shorts to cover, but a symbol change will force shorts to cover. As far as I know all short positions in the current symbol need to be closed out when a smybol change occurs. I've seen it happen in other stocks. They really spiked the day before the symbol changed. NM won't change to ETV for a couple of months, so there is time to accumulate or wait on the sidelines.
