I would still call it "enhanced 2D", true 3D would require a display device capable of 3 dimensions itself. The key is in all the shadows. ;-) (Truthfully, read some of the articles)

Here's another little reality that I don't think has changed - as speedy and bug-free as MSFT products have been through the years, do you think the street has all that much confidence in their other ideas?
Let's face it, Microsoft is just trying to come up with a standard for 3D and needed some people to help with the hardware end. When/if Talisman gets close to reality the others will also announce support, and S3 will likely already have a chipset for it ready to roll. You see, no matter what the news seems to indicate, Microsoft works with all of the graphics companies, and don't underestimate S3's part in things just like many have underestimated their stronghold with Intel, but that's another subject. |
