Rumors flying on Yahoo board that deal with Verticalnet might be off, some guy posted a letter from Jerry Kaplan, to the effect that the deal aint off, but has been delayed (indefinitely?) since this kind of industrial business requires more research and services then they currently have,,
SEC filings indicate that the deal can be scrapped with consent from both parties within 6 weeks or something (dont remember exactly)
also I notice that VerticalNet is trying to do too much on its own,
for example from its Paints and Coatings site, one can step thru marketplace, and search for books on any topic and it comes up with price quotes from Amazon and other stores..(thank you Junglee) .. what are they trying to do here sell books on Java Programming through their paint and coatings web site ???
this whole thing is getting scary, I'm in on Onsale for their Industrial b/b auctions with VERT,, not for dumb retail stuff, I couldn't care less for their current business...
