Fortunately I have not had to go thru that process yet. I did watch as the DOE dismantled the old Shippingport plant. I think this was less than 1 yr (not sure though). I will ask at work. Some of the guys have come from such plants (Trojan in Oregon for example).

I do know for sure that it takes much longer to build one! My plant took over 10 years. Much of this time (and money) is spent on regulatory issues. Plant design unfortunately is a moving target.
