I disagree with the proposition that "ultimately" the box maker's brand will mean more than Intel. While I agree that this is possible, I believe (and I suspect that this is also Mr. Grove's belief) that it is in Intel's best interest to maintain the "Intel" brand with customers to create a pull demand for their product from consumers.

As long as Intel can retain its control (through increased performance and backward compatibility) of the PC market, they should be able to retain this marketing power.

This can also be instrumental in increasing demand for Intel solutions in other areas as the PC matures and new opportunities present themselves for powerful microprocessors.
