Re: RBOCs buying from CSCC

You are absolutely right. If you look at the big customer base for CSCC, you will see that they are mainly RBOCs. The RBOCs have a very structured approval process for equipment vendors, and if you make it on the list you get big revenue.

If you boil it down this way, it makes the CSCC story simple. There are basically eight local exchange carriers that make up the bulk of the telecom equipment mfgrs. business (seven RBOCs and GTE), so to understand who has approved the CSCC platform will give great insight on the prospects for revenue.

The worst case scenario is for frame relay sales to go flat while waiting for ATM revs to catch up. Does anyone know the current status of approval in the eight customers on the ATM platform. If CSCC is on the approval list of a good portion of these customers then this story will return, with a vengance once ATM purchases take off. I don't think you will get any argument on this.

The real question is how many of the eight large buyers of telecom equipment has approved the CSCC platform, and anyone who has any insight on this question could be of tremendous help for this thread.

Your help is appreciated.

Tim
