HI Bob,

Here's a short excerpt from a piece on the Bakersfield Californian site:

Efforts to stop flow from blown-out well are failing

Efforts over the past two days to stop the flow of natural gas and water from a blown-out well near Lost Hills have not succeeded, and the well still is flowing uncontrolled.

Crews from Halliburton Co., using the world's largest "snubbing unit," tried to stop the blowout from the surface by pumping cements and muds into the well bore, but high pressures apparently prevented the attempt from working.

A snubbing unit allows access to high-pressure, out-of-control well bores through a series of valves.

Crews will try again today to "kill" the well.

A relief well that is being drilled in the event above-ground efforts fail continues to make progress and is now past 12,000 feet, aiming to intercept the blown well between 13,500 and 14,000 feet.

------------

The above article is NOT presented in its entirety but the balance of the article was OT.

I also, saw a comment in the Opinion Forum that suggests that the relief well is drilling at about 13,450 feet.

Better luck next time (with the cement).

Later,
