Dalin, this is the excuse:"Adds a spokesman for top-performer Dell: "These programs are necessary in a pretty competitive hiring environment." Reality is that they saw an opportunity about 10 years ago, and took it. Managements perverted an ideal (putting management and shareholders on the same side) by figuring out a new way to screw shareholders and not have it show up on the income statements. The fact is that if you hide the cost of labor you end up with inflated earnings numbers. And the fact is that most of these high tech companies have sufficient cash to pay the salaries -- they are simply taking advantage of an accounting gimmick. TTFN, CTC
