FREMONT, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- ESS Technology, Inc. The NEC Ready 120LT is the first full-featured, small-sized, Windows® 98 notebook computer in the sub-$1,000 market.
With its superior connectivity and throughput, the ES56-I V.90 data/fax modem chipset provides faster Internet connection and data transfer in a compact package. Lighter than most textbooks, the 3.6 pound NEC Ready 120LT offers a convenient notebook that allows users to surf the web, manage finances, write term papers or play games.
''Incorporating multimedia and Internet capabilities into the NEC Ready 120LT notebook was a major priority,'' explains Fred Kern, vice president of product marketing, Packard Bell NEC consumer division. ''With the modem chipset from ESS Technology, we are able to offer superior performance in a small package at a competitive price.''
''Worldwide consumer demand for Internet access continues to increase, and Packard Bell NEC now has a terrific competitive advantage as our modem solution enables faster Internet connections and downloads,'' states Skip Effler, vice president of sales and marketing. ''We are pleased Packard Bell NEC selected our modem solution for its industry-leading notebook.''
ESS Technology's modem chipsets have been tested by independent test house, Henderson Communications Laboratories, the international leader in data, fax, cellular, ISDN and xDSL testing. When compared to modems from other modem suppliers, including Lucent, Rockwell and US Robotics/3COM, the ESS modem chipsets -- both Digital Signal Processor (DSP) and Host Signal Processor (HSP) -- ranked the highest in both connect speed and throughput of all modems tested by Henderson.
