That is major news. Bell Atlantic plans to make its DSL technology available in areas covering 7.5 million homes by the end of 1999, a number that Bell Atlantic expects to nearly double to more than 14 million by the end of the year 2000.

7.5M by end of 99 is more than what cable expects. I assume most DSL subscribers will be on the internet. If AOL gets half of those, they would have around 4M broadband users, and by end 2000, AOL could have 7M broadband users. And that is just from this Bell Atlantic deal.
